Week in the Arts - June 13th

  Aspen Words Writer in Residence, Tom Bouman, speaks on Tuesday.

 

Ozomatli plays at the Belly Up on Wednesday. The group takes cues from nearly every genre possible...including salsa, cumbia, rock and funk.

The Food and Wine Classic starts on Thursday. The event includes tastings, demonstrations and conversations on every culinary topic imaginable. It’s the unofficial kickoff to summer in Aspen.

 

A few miles down the road, the Heritage Fire kicks off the Cochon 555 event in Snowmass. The weekend-long event features heritage-raised animals cooked over fire, just like the old days.

 

Come to a Latino Christian picnic in Carbondale on Saturday.

Aspen Words’ Summer Words event kicks off on Sunday. The series includes talks and seminars led by some of today’s most important writers...including poet Rowan Ricardo Phillips.

Patrick Fort grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, nurturing a love for ice hockey and deli sandwiches. After moving to Colorado in 2010 to attend the University of Colorado to study music, Patrick discovered his love for journalism. In 2013, Patrick created and hosted the award-winning radio program Colorado Stories, a news program that covered CU and the surrounding community. An avid mountain and road cyclist, Patrick also referees youth ice hockey. He loves '60s pop bands and and trying new recipes ranging from milk-braised carnitas to flourless cakes.
