Week in the Arts - March 7th

Tuesday in Snowmass, Alex Blau’s exhibit “Rainbowhead” opens at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center. She uses geometric shapes to talk about consumerism and its visibility in culture.

 

Jack Brendlinger speaks at Explore Booksellers on Wednesday. He is the author of “Don’t Get Mad...Get Even: Stories of the Aspen Practical Joke Years”.

 

The All-Valley Middle School Honor Band will be performing at Harris Concert on Wednesday. The group includes the top sixth, seventh and eighth graders in the Valley.

 

Thursday, The Hunts play at the Wheeler Opera House. Based out of Chesapeake, Virginia, the group of siblings have been playing together for their entire lives.

 

The Battle of The Walls opens at the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts. It’s a competition with art from Valley high school students.

 

Friday, Sarah McKenzie plays the first of two nights at the JAS Cafe in Aspen. The Australian singer and pianist has already performed all over the world and is in her early 20s.

 

The Art Base in Basalt opens an exhibit of work by Philip Hone Williams. The artist mixes his paintings with rocks and other man-made items.

Sunday at the Belly Up, Lyle Lovett and Robert Earl Keen play a sold out show. Lovett is touring in support of his latest album “Release Me”.
