Week in the Arts - May 30th

  Carbondale’s Marble Distilling Company starts to celebrate its first anniversary on Tuesday. The Distillery will be screening “The Big Lebowski” and serving their drink “The Dude.”

 

“Spring into Summer” opens at the Aspen Chapel Gallery. The show features the watercolor paintings of ten local artists.

 

Wednesday, Aspen Film will be screening the film “Louder Than Bombs”...The movie stars Jesse Eisenberg, and tells the story of the death of a famous photographer and how her family deals with her passing as they discover the details about the accident that took her life.

 

The exhibition, “Out of the Box”, opens at the Red Brick Center for the Arts on Thursday.

 

Ghostland Observatory plays at the Belly Up in Aspen on Friday. The electronic group uses elements of pop, rock and blues, and have played big festivals like Lollapalooza and Coachella.

 

Richard Carter’s new art show opens at the R2 Gallery in Carbondale. “Mandalas Considered” takes the traditional mandala and adds geometric shapes.

 

Disney’s Tarzan the musical is being performed at the Wheeler Opera House on Saturday. The production is put on by Secret Identity Pictures...a production company based out of Glenwood Springs. It’s the end of a touring run that took the show to Rifle and Grand Junction.

Patrick Fort grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, nurturing a love for ice hockey and deli sandwiches. After moving to Colorado in 2010 to attend the University of Colorado to study music, Patrick discovered his love for journalism. In 2013, Patrick created and hosted the award-winning radio program Colorado Stories, a news program that covered CU and the surrounding community. An avid mountain and road cyclist, Patrick also referees youth ice hockey. He loves '60s pop bands and and trying new recipes ranging from milk-braised carnitas to flourless cakes.
