What has APR done for you lately? Special live broadcasts

We bring you numerous special broadcasts such as more than 23 hours of Ideas Festival lectures and discussion, the McCloskey Speaker Series, which started last week and continues all summer, the Security Forum this week and classical music concerts and opera all summer long.

"We recognize the importance of giving our listeners access to these special talks by some of the best thinkers and leaders in the country,” news director Carolyn Sackariason said about the broadcasts from the Aspen Institute. “We are happy to share the unprecedented number of these broadcasts for everyone wherever they may be — in their cars, in their homes and everywhere in between. Enjoy!"

Chris Mohr, APR’s host of Classical Music from Aspen and Festival Notes, said this season of broadcasts of Aspen Music Festival performances is the most ambitious yet.

“This summer, Aspen Public Radio is doing six live broadcasts of AMFS performances, including concerts with soprano Renee Fleming and guitarist Sharon Isbin, as well as two operas from the Wheeler Opera House,” Mohr said.

“All the performance clearances and engineering challenges are worth it because you get to enjoy the excitement of a live performance from the comfort of your home or car. At least three of these concerts are sellouts because they are so exciting, but now many more people can be a part of these live performances. And just think, if you can't buy a ticket to see these great artists live, the cost of a ‘ticket’ to enjoy Aspen Public Radio all year is about the same!”
