En Hiver” opens this evening at the Red Brick Center for the Arts.

Hiver” means winter in French. At the Red Brick Center for the Arts, pieces ranging from painting to sculpture are on display trying to reflect that.

The colors of the season are on full blast. Blues, whites and greys are prominent, but yellow also makes an appearance. The sun doesn’t always go away.

Some paintings are realistic, and some are abstract. The works of Amanda Ramsay are the latter. They are small porcelain squares laid out so they form a rectangle. On some of the squares are triangles that seem to point in a certain direction. That is Ramsay’s piece called “The Path”.

Other pieces depict the Valley’s famous mountains in a photo realistic way. Even more depict skiing and snowboarding.

The show runs through the end of the month.
