Wednesday, there is a Bow Wow Film Festival at The Wheeler Opera House. 90 minutes of award-winning films for dog lovers in the valley. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the screening begins at 6:30 p.m.

Roaring Fork High School’s annual art exhibition will be on display Monday through Wednesday from 8am to 8pm in the school’s main gym.

Dance Initiative welcomes Marielis Garcia of NYC and David Norsworthy of Toronto as Artists in Residence at The Launchpad. The dancers will give workshops Tuesday and Thursday starting at 6:15.

The dancers will also give a performance of a new work in progress Saturday, May 27 at 7:30pm.

 

A polish food tasting event at Dancing Bear General Store in Glenwood Springs is on Monday.

Aspen Noise meets at the Aspen Chapel on Tuesday.

Also on Tuesday, The Basalt Regional Library is screening the documentary, “Sreenagers”.

Make halloween-themed crafts at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village on Wednesday.

The seventh annual Rock n roast halloween Bash is on Friday at The Orchard in Carbondale.

Sarah McKenzie and Laurie Doctor’s exhibitions at the Art Base continue this week.  

On Tuesday, Lesly Nneka Arimah finishes Aspen Words’ Writers in Residence series. She speaks at Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar in Aspen.

 

The Helio Sequence plays at the Belly Up in Aspen on Wednesday.

 

Friday in Glenwood Springs is a ghost walk in Linwood Cemetery.

 

Friday and Saturday is a performance of Stephen Sondheim’s “Sweeney Todd” at the Glenwood Vaudeville Revue Theatre.

Delta Rae plays at the Belly Up in Aspen on Tuesday.

Aspen Film is screening the film “Little Men” at the Isis Theatre on Wednesday.

  Author Jenny Price is speaking at Hooch Craft Cocktail Bar as part of Aspen Words Writers in residence on Tuesday.

 

The Oh Hellos play at the Belly Up on Wednesday.

 

Frank Martin plays in Glenwood Springs at the Cardiff Schoolhouse.

 

The film “Harry and Snowman” is being screened at the Wheeler Opera House.

 

The movie “Before Night Falls” is being screened at the Aspen Art Museum on Friday.

 

The 38th Annual Aspen Film Filmfest starts on Wednesday. The festival runs through the weekend and screens movies in Carbondale and Aspen.

 

The classic film “Mr. Mom” is being screened at the Basalt Regional Library on Wednesday.

 

MarchFourth Marching Band plays at the BellyUp on Thursday.

 

Valley Comedy All-Stars perform at Loyal Brothers Lounge in Glenwood Springs on Friday.

  On Tuesday, the opening reception for the “Surface as Cipher” exhibition starts at five at Anderson Ranch.

  It’s Independence day...If you’re not watching the great action movie of the same name, or seeing the sequel. Check out fourth of July events up and down the valley.

 

Aspen Film is screening the film “Weiner” on Wednesday. It follows the scandal of politician “Anthony Weiner”.

 

Dave Jordan plays on Thursday’s Snowmass free concert.

 

The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s summer performance opens on Friday.

  Monday at the Aspen Institute is “Athens to Aspen, Journeys of Meaning”. It’s a course that uses the words of Shakespeare and other classic writers to help people find direction in their lives.

 

“Finding Place” opens at Anderson Ranch on Tuesday. The show features the work of two local artists, Sara Ransford and Alleghany Meadows.

Trout Steak Revival plays at the Belly Up on Wednesday. Denver’s Westword magazine has called them one of Colorado’s great bluegrass bands.

 

Thursday at the Red Onion, Damian Smith and Dennis Jung perform. They take the stage at 10 p.m..

 

The show “My Favorite Things” opens at the Red Brick Center for the Arts in Aspen. The gallery plays off of the famous holiday-themed song.
