The director of the 911 dispatch center in Pitkin County is no longer at the helm. Bruce Romero’s last day was in early December. He took a job with the Colorado 911 Resource Center in Denver. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen caught up with Romero after his departure.

Bruce Romero is the former Emergency Dispatch Director for the Pitkin County Dispatch Center. He’s now based in Denver. The local dispatch center has an interim director until the position is filled.

In an effort to monitor smell at a marijuana greenhouse near Basalt, Pitkin County has hired an “odor ranger.” He’s been tracking pot aroma for more than a month. It’s an attempt at taming one aspect of a new industry. But, few rules exist in Colorado around smell and marijuana. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen has more.

It’s mid-day along Highway 82. Ryan Randolph looks both ways and runs across the busy road. He’s in front of High Valley Farms.

State Representative Millie Hamner is back home in Summit County after a busy legislative session. The former school superintendent sponsored several education measures including one that will reduce testing. Hamner’s district includes Pitkin County. She spoke with Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen.

Millie Hamner represents House District 61 at the Statehouse, which includes Pitkin County.

Kerry Donovan Campaign

Colorado State Senator Kerry Donovan will be in Aspen on Saturday talking about her time at the State Capitol, so far. The Freshman Democrat has gotten behind measures to aid rural economies and one to overturn a ban on larger gun magazines. I spoke with her yesterday.

The show is about The Aspen Challenge at Denver Public Schools with Natalie Travers, Program Manager of the Aspen Challenge, Will Palmquist, a junior at East High School in Denver, and Solicia Lopez, the Student Board Director at Denver Public Schools.
