The Grand Avenue Bridge is open and the 25,000. or so, vehicles that come in and out of Glenwood Springs everyday will no longer be rerouted onto Midland Avenue.

Since the Grand Avenue Bridge closed on Aug. 14, we’ve been told to ride the bus, but how many of us have? The Roaring Fork Transportation Agency (RFTA) released numbers recently to help give us an answer.

A portion of the old Grand Avenue Bridge collapsed Tuesday night. Officials want to assure the public there’s a different plan for removing the I-70 side of the old bridge.

Shoshone, Grizzly Creek and No Name put-ins are closing for 10 days, starting Monday.  Boaters need to find somewhere else to recreate, as only some commercial guides will still be able to use them.

Pedestrians no longer have their own bridge across the Colorado River in Glenwood Springs. The popular mode of travel for getting from one side of town to the other is now a walkway, next to four lanes of traffic. Tourists and visitors appear to be embracing the new temporary connection.

  After years of preparation and hashing out the details, work is beginning on a new Grand Avenue Bridge. CDOT and contract workers will be focusing on the area underneath the bridge downtown, from 7th street.

  After years of planning, work begins next month on the the new Grand Avenue Bridge project. The first few months will be more low-key and need fewer workers, doing things like prepping areas underneath and near the ends of the bridge, as well as pouring the foundations for its pillars.
