Officials on the Garfield County planning and zoning commission are considering a proposal for another round of gas wells in a Battlement Mesa community.

  Battlement Mesa residents say they’ll continue fighting a proposal to drill near homes, a golf course and other areas nearby. Ursa Resources wants to drill two pads in Battlement Mesa, with a total of more than fifty wells combined.

Garfield County recently released a report showing air pollution is on a decreasing trend. County officials attribute the decline in part, to improvements in how oil and gas companies operate in the region. As Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen reports, some county residents don’t think the numbers tell the whole story.
