Six candidates running for elected office in Snowmass Village discussed issues like the economy, development and marijuana at a candidate forum Thursday night. Three people are running for mayor. Another three are vying for two council seats. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen was there and filed this report.

A moratorium on retail marijuana stores and improvements to public transit came up at the forum but the issue that got the most attention was Base Village.

Downtown Redevelopment: Basalt Committee To Decide Issues Like Zoning, Financing

Earlier this year community members in Basalt came up with 3000 ideas for redevelopment. A new Town-appointed committee will cull some of the ideas and make decisions on issues such as zoning.

Tonight (Tues 9/23) the Basalt Town Council will decide whether to approve members of a special board that will help make decisions on downtown development. The committee would, according to the Town Manager, “put more meat” on redevelopment ideas. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen explains.

Economic Recovery, Affordable Housing Discussed At Candidate Forum

Issues like economic recovery, marijuana and affordable housing were discussed at a candidate forum in Basalt Monday night. The candidates are vying for open seats on Basalt’s Town Council.  Four of the five registered candidates participated. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen was there and filed this report.
