Jeannie Walla is a host of Jazz from Aspen.
Jeannie Walla, Wednesday night Jazz host, has been with the station almost since its inception, reading short stories, even before the station was an NPR affiliate. A long standing supporter of the station as well as long time listener to Jazz and other programming, Jeannie’s happy to be hosting Jazz again after a stint doing a Sunday morning show of Big Band Music, a personal favorite style of music. She has a background singing with Big Bands in the Valley over the last several years and makes an annual appearance with Symphony in the Valley during their Winter Event. Jeannie’s first Jazz performance was as a youngster performing solos of standards like “Poor Butterfly”, “Firefly” and “Just in Time” during school shows in Brooklyn, New York. Jazz has been discovered in her DNA since her grandparents were in Vaudeville, performing as accompanists for silent movies and in nightclubs in New York City. She regularly sings with her jazz trio in restaurants and clubs and at special events throughout the Valley. Her CD, “Legacy”, is available on Amazon.com.
