The race to be Colorado’s next Governor is officially underway. Former Congressman Bob Beauprez will challenge Governor John Hickenlooper in November after winning a four way GOP primary race. Beauprez captured a four-point lead over his closest challenger, Tom Tancredo.

Special District Elections: The "Wild West" Of Voting

Several special district elections were held in the Roaring Fork Valley this spring. These kinds of "taxing" districts are mostly unique to Colorado, California and Oregon.

A handful of special district elections wrapped up earlier this month with voters casting ballots up and down the valley for board members. Turns out, the way these elections are run has been a point of contention over the years at the State Capitol. Unlike County and State elections, these local elections are subject to fewer rules. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen reports.

Election: Downvalley Districts Welcome New Board Members

Nearly 400 people either voted absentee or showed up to the polling place for the Crown Mountain Park election Tuesday. District officials say that's a "great" turnout.

Voters in the Mid-Valley and Carbondale cast their ballots in two separate elections yesterday. People voted for board members to represent the Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District, as well as the Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District.

Four Candidates Vie For Seats On Crown Mountain Board

An election for three open seats on the Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District's Board of Directors is being held May 6th.

Next week voters in the sprawling, mid-valley Crown Mountain Park and Recreation District will head to the polls. Four people are running for three open seats on the board of directors. Three of them are incumbents and the fourth jumped in after voters turned down a proposal last fall, to build a recreation center. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen reports.

It’s a cloudy, chilly day as Ted Bristol drives me through the 130-acre Crown Mountain Park in El Jebel. Despite the light snowfall, some bundled-up dog waters are braving the cold.
