City officials say there will not be a public vote regarding the location of Aspen Mountains’ Lift 1A this fall.
Two private developers, the City of Aspen, the Aspen Skiing Company and the Aspen Historical Society all have land involved in the prefered path of an updated lift, which would be brought down to Dean Street. The group has decided they need more time before submitting all of the land use applications. Due to zoning variances, those applications are expected to trigger approval through a public vote. There is not time before a fall election for all of the land use applications to be submitted and approved by the city. The hope is now is to hold a special election in January or February.
