ASFB releases winter schedule after record-breaking fundraiser

Aspen Santa Fe Ballet

The Aspen Santa Fe Ballet company released its winter schedule yesterday. A third consecutive record-breaking fundraising event won’t change the way the company operates artistically.

The “Dancing with the Stars” fundraiser in July was the most profitable fundraiser that the group has had yet. That is the third year in a row that it has broken its own record, but the group does not release the numbers publicly.

Public documents show that the organization raised $700,000 through fundraising in 2013.

But according to people at the company, the fundraisers don’t make or break what the dancers will be performing in each season.

That includes the company’s take on “The Nutcracker”, the only show choreographed in-house by artistic director Tom Mossbrucker and executive director, Jean-Philippe Malaty.

The company is also debuting two new works that are still unnamed. Cayetano Soto and Fernando Melo will be debuting their dances in February.

The first performance of the company’s 20th season will be “The Nutcracker” on December 12. There are also performances in February and March.
