Ballots for Aspen’s runoff election go in the mail this Friday, and early voting begins on Monday at City Hall, as residents choose between grassroots activist Bert Myrin and longtime civil servant Mick Ireland. They’re battling it out for an Aspen City Council seat. The election will be run nearly identical to the one that ended earlier this month.
City Clerk Linda Manning says there’s lots of options if a resident had a problem with their ballot the last time around. “They can come in and see us in person, and we can check their mailing address,” Manning explained on Wednesday. “Since the printers already have the list they can fill out an absentee application to have their ballot sent to a different address.”
The last day to return ballots in person is Tuesday June 2nd. City Hall and the Red Brick will again be vote centers that day. The City Clerk’s office had talked about having only one, but that would require a vote by city council, which doesn’t meet until a week before the ballots are counted.
