Aspen school district has final three for elementary principal

courtesy Aspen School District

The Aspen School District will be interviewing finalists for the vacant elementary school principal position this week.

Like many employers in the valley, the Aspen School District finds it easy to attract top talent but finds it difficult to close the deal. Superintendent John Maloy said the two-bedroom home offered with the position is not necessarily the right fit for top administrators.

“The challenge that we have as a district is the housing issue,” he said.

The year-round principal position has an annual salary of between $100,000 and $110,000. The interview committee's top pick declined the job offer in early April and the application process was reopened. Three finalists will interview throughout the day on Friday, including attending a meet-and-greet with the public from 11:30 a.m.  12:30 p.m. in the elementary school library.
