The real estate industry in Aspen is about to enter its busiest time of the year. Andrew Ernemann is a broker with Aspen/Snowmass Sotheby’s. He says July and August are the busiest months in the resort town, where real estate sales exceed $1 billion dollars annually. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen caught up with Ernemann:

According to the Colorado Dept. of Labor and Employment, real estate is a key industry in Pitkin County. Accommodations and Food Service is the county's top sector with 4,307 employees. Arts, Entertainment and Recreation comes in at number two with 2,069 employees. The real estate industry employed 1,275 people last year and there were 215 real estate businesses.
