Carbondale appoints Luis Yllanes as newest trustee

Luis Yllanes, 43, is Carbondale’s newest trustee. He’s lived in Carbondale for two years and throughout the valley for eight.

Yllanes is in charge of exhibitions for the Aspen Art Museum.

The trustees interviewed six applicants Tuesday night. The topic of integrating the town’s Latino community was a central topic in the discussion. Yllanes speaks both English and Spanish.

He will serve until April of 2018. The position was vacated by Katrina Byars, who moved to Glenwood Springs.
