First week of Wheeler’s new digs not sold out, but future bright

After an additional month of delays, the Wheeler Opera House opened it’s doors for its first show last weekend.

Though not all of the shows were sold out, Wheeler Executive Director Gena Buhler is optimistic about the venue’s future after seeing reactions to the revamped space.

“Jaws just dropped," says Buhler. "They look around they say, ‘it’s so big! It’s so beautiful! It’s so open!’ And that’s before they even get four steps into the door.”

The final upgrades scheduled for the winter should be completed at some time in February. The venue hosts the bluegrass band Head for the Hills on Friday.
