Last week, the Garfield County Board of Commissioners publicly endorsed President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee.
In a letter to state senators Cory Gardner and Michael Bennet, the three Garfield County commissioners stated their support of Neil M. Gorsuch. The commissioners stated that land management is of particular importance to the county, and claimed nearly two-thirds of land in the county is controlled by a federal agency.
The commissioners wrote Gorsuch “understands federal regulatory overreach that has threatened our way of life in the West.”
Gorsuch served just over a year as Deputy Assistant Attorney General before President George W. Bush nominated him to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit in Denver. The judge is a cousin of Aspen retailer and developer Jeff Gorsuch.
