Pitkin County District Court Judge Gail Nichols is having a big week. She turned 65 on Monday and she's retiring from the bench on Friday.
She spoke with Aspen Public Radio's Carolyn Sackariason about her early days as a prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney's Office in New Jersey, then her role as a Deputy DA in Pitkin County and finally as judge in the Ninth Judicial District. She also reflects on her appreciation for Aspen living. Pitkin County Attorney Chris Seldin will take her place. Nichols will swear him in Nov. 9 on the courthouse steps.
