Senator Kerry Donovan from District 5 was appointed whip of the Democratic Caucus last week. The whipacts as an ambassador for bills, working to make sure legislation is well-written and has the support it needs to pass. They work with other legislators and, in Donovan's case, Democratic majority leader to usher bills through the legislature.
"You know, if it's my bill or not it's the whip's role to explain the bill and the need to get it passed," said Donovan.
She thinks it’s an exciting opportunity to highlight her home district in the statehouse.
The first regular session of the seventy-second general assembly starts Jan. 4, 2019.
