Officials with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) say Independence Pass is scheduled to close Monday, Nov. 7, but if weather permits, it may remain open until Nov. 14.
Aspenweather.net meteorologist Cory Gates said it’s likely that Aspen will see small storms with above normal temperatures until the middle of November, which could translate into an extra week for motorists capitalizing on the short cut to the Front Range.
After Nov. 14, regardless of weather, CDOT crews will need to shift resources to focus on winter operations in other parts of the state.
