Multiple art galleries are opening this summer as visitors return to the Roaring Fork Valley. Last week Art of Hair opened in Basalt. Later this summer, Marianne Boesky will be opening a gallery in Aspen, to go along with her space in New York.

Today, the Nomad Gallery opens in Glenwood Springs. The idea is that for each exhibition, the gallery will move to a different location. The first show will be in the old Gallery 809 space on Grand Avenue.

Jay Phillips and Matthew Eames will be featured this month.

Jessica Cabe is the founder, and a first-timer when it comes to opening a gallery. She said minor details were some of the hardest parts of getting this all together.

“So I thought I could just go to Lowe’s and buy some track lights, but Lowe’s doesn’t have the right kind,” she said. “I had to call places in Denver to see if they had the right kind, and I could drive down and pick them up.”
