Streets in downtown Glenwood Springs were repainted Wednesday night to get ready for Monday morning, when the Grand Avenue Bridge closes.
The new paint job will send traffic onto the Midland Avenue detour. This part of the detour is referred to as the “square about.” If you’re headed out of Glenwood, you’ll go one way around a city block between 8th and 9th streets, and vice versa if you are going the other way.
Even with the new paint job, drivers will still be able to cross the Grand Avenue Bridge until 12:01 a.m. on Monday, when the old bridge closes and traffic will be rerouted onto Midland Avenue.
The new bridge is scheduled to open by Thanksgiving.
