Photos from the first morning of Snowmass Balloon Festival

The 40th Annual Snowmass Balloon Festival kicked off this morning. High winds prevented balloons from heading down valley, and eventually canceled all flights. Pilots will try to lift off again on Saturday morning.

Balloons and their crews came from all over Colorado and New Mexico as well as a few other states. It takes a team of five to ten people to set up and inflate a hot air balloon. It takes just as many to keep it on the ground while waiting for take off.
