The Pitkin County Board of County Commissioners are formally welcoming the Trump children to town with a full page ad in today’s local papers.
Last week reports arose that President Donald Trumps’ three eldest: Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric and their children would be in Aspen for a spring break trip.
During previous visits to Aspen by Michelle Obama and her daughters, the commissioners drew attention to environmental issues in the Thompson Divide through a full page notice. Commissioner Patti Clapper said they felt a similar need to put on a friendly face, while pointing out local values.
“The board felt it was appropriate, with the Trump family being here, to welcome them as we did the Obama family and asking them to really take note of our beautiful environment,” said Clapper.
The board is paying for the full page ads out of its unallocated discretionary fund, the total cost for both full page ads is about $1000.
