Arts are now making an appearance in science, technology, engineering and math, also known as “STEM” fields. STEAM adds an “a” for arts.
In an effort to get kids more interested in creative approaches to science and math, the STEAM Room is opening at the Aspen Science Center at the Crystal Palace.
Kids can learn about basic circuit design, hydrology, and sound and light. There will also be competitions for children to compete in. Who can build the strongest bridge, or who can fly a paper airplane the longest.
But it isn’t just your hard sciences - your “-ologys” - that are in the STEAM Room. The relationship between art and science can be discovered with pendulums, among other things.
The room will be open through April on Wednesdays and Sundays.
