The U.S. Forest Service has released a draft decision that approves major recreation updates at Snowmass Ski Area.

Aspen Skiing Company hopes to attract a wide range of visitors to Snowmass year-round. The plan includes a mountain coaster, zip line and canopy tour, a ropes course and a climbing wall in the Elk Camp area. There are also plans for ten new mountain biking trails, spanning about 15 miles, designed for all ability levels.

The latest proposal removes a multi-purpose area near the Elk Camp Restaurant.

A final decision is expected in May, and the Forest Service is reviewing design proposals from SkiCo. Construction is likely to start this summer and could impact up to 25 acres on the mountain.
