Pitkin County Health and Human services director Nan Sundeen has been in her position for 25 years.
Next week, she will be honored in front of Gov. John Hickenlooper for a lifetime achievement in public service. She was secretly nominated by leaders of Mountain Family Health Centers, one of the many nonprofits her office works with to support those in need in Pitkin County. Though humbled by the award, Sundeen said it’s not about accolades.
“We don’t need recognition, we can see it in the eyes of the people who appreciate the work that we do,” said Sundeen.
She will be honored in Denver by the Colorado Nonprofit Association on March 6, which is the the kick off to Colorado Nonprofit Week.
