WE-Cycle, the bikeshare program in Aspen and Basalt, wrapped up its fifth year on Dec. 18. Nearly all 40,000 rides taken in 2017 were by 1,500 passholders, the majority of who don’t live in Aspen and use WE-Cycle to avoid traffic.

Basalt’s We-Cycle system saw a 20 percent increase in ridership in 2017. Most rides were to and from RFTA bus stops.

In 2018, WE-Cycle will be fare-free in Aspen and Basalt for the first 30 minutes of each ride, thanks to financial support from Aspen, Basalt and Eagle County.
