Week in the Arts - June 20th

  The AREDay summit begins on Monday at the Viceroy in Snowmass.  

Tuesday at Anderson Ranch in Snowmass...get a preview of the art on display at the Ranch’s 50th anniversary art auction.

 

Wednesday, Aspen Words hosts its summer benefit at the Hotel Jerome. Lucy Kalanithi speaks with Ann Patchett.

 

The Aspen Music Festival and School begins on Wednesday as well.

 

Thursday, Gregory Porter plays at the JAS Cafe at the Little Nell.

 

It’s also the start of the Aspen Ideas Festival.

 

Richard Carter speaks at the R2 Gallery in Carbondale on Thursday. He will be discussing his exhibition called “Mandalas Considered”.

 

Friday, the Jazz Aspen June Experiences starts with a performance by Diana Ross. Her daughter, Rhonda, opens for her. On Saturday, Sheryl Crow performs, and Booker T. and Marcus Miller perform on Sunday.

 

West Side Story is being screened at the Aspen Art Museum on Saturday.

 

MGMT performs a special DJ set at the Belly up on Sunday.

 

Patrick Fort grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, nurturing a love for ice hockey and deli sandwiches. After moving to Colorado in 2010 to attend the University of Colorado to study music, Patrick discovered his love for journalism. In 2013, Patrick created and hosted the award-winning radio program Colorado Stories, a news program that covered CU and the surrounding community. An avid mountain and road cyclist, Patrick also referees youth ice hockey. He loves '60s pop bands and and trying new recipes ranging from milk-braised carnitas to flourless cakes.
