A 57-year-old woman from the Front Range fell to her death on the north face of North Maroon Peak over the weekend.

On Tuesday, Rei Hwa Lee was found by rescue teams at about 12,600 feet. Lee’s children told authorities their mother arrived at the Maroon Bells parking area at 5 a.m. Hikers reported seeing Lee hiking up North Maroon on Saturday morning.

On Sunday evening, the family reported her overdue. For the past two days, crews searched the area by air and on foot. Mountain Rescue Aspen and a Blackhawk helicopter were able to recover Lee’s body. She was transported to Aspen Valley Hospital morgue.
